Documentary film maker, Georgie Connelly, wonders if her life can get any worse when, after a misunderstanding, she is arrested and forced to do community service. The answer comes back as a resounding yes when she is stalked by a vengeful white supremacist whose hate crimes she exposed in a previous documentary, whilst becoming embroiled in the seedy world of Maxim Petrov, a Russian gangster and the subject of her current project. As Georgie ricochets from one disaster to another, her boss hires his old friend, James Finn to keep an eye on her. Sparks fly as they find themselves caught in a web of corruption that involves prostitution and people trafficking. As Georgie attempts to expose Petrov, she realises too late that he is a deadly enemy and the price of taking him on threatens to cost her everything.
A thrilling crime novel, introducing Georgie Connelly a feisty protagonist along with a cast of loyal and likeable characters who surround her. If you enjoy novels that have heart and humour why not give it a try.
Business As Usual The Georgie Connelly Stories Book 1 edition by EL Lindley Literature Fiction eBooks
In a refreshing change, the volatile auburn-haired protagonist of "Business as Usual," Georgie Connelly isn't a policewoman or a detective. She's a documentary film-maker who tackles unpleasant subjects -- in this case, so-called "gentleman's clubs" and the sex trafficking alleged to be part of the higher-end varieties.Georgie is a wonderfully flawed heroine. Short-tempered, impatient, with the F-word always a ready part of her vocabulary. Also fearless to the point of recklessness. The author gifted Georgie with a good heart however, and she inevitably does the right thing, even though sometimes reluctantly.
E.L. Lindley does a nice job of showing all these traits, rather than telling. We see them in direct action, dialogue and through the eyes of other characters.
Despite a few proofreading errors, E.L.'s first novel in the Georgie Connelly series introduces a truly dynamic heroine. I identified with and rooted for Georgie, while simultaneously thinking "Omigod, Georgie, you didn't say that! You didn't do that!"
"Business as Usual" is terrific fun, with serious undertones and a fantastic cast of characters led by volatile Georgie Connelly, as vivid a character as you're likely meet in any book. Highly recommended crime thriller.

Business As Usual The Georgie Connelly Stories Book 1 edition by EL Lindley Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I would like to thank E.L.Lindley for gifting me a copy of Business As Usual which I have greatly enjoyed reading. Very well written and fast paced we meet Georgie Connelly who is rather embarrassingly, and reluctantly, undertaking community service after a misunderstanding. She is a documentary film maker which I thought was an original and interesting angle lending itself easily to the possibility of further stories. Georgie is short tempered and difficult but I immediately liked her. Beneath the prickly exterior is a warm hearted soul willing to go the extra mile to help the people she meets. She finds many, particularly social, situations awkward which made me feel empathy for her and Lindley portrays this rather flawed character, as well as all the others, skilfully and consistently throughout the book.
Georgie is already in trouble due to a previous documentary she has made about a white supremacist and despite her friends, Eric and Callie, arranging for an old friend, James Finn, to help protect her, this threat comes swiftly to a violent conclusion.
Georgie is meanwhile setting up her next project with a Russian gangster who is the head of a seedy underworld of drugs, prostitution and people trafficking, Maxim Petrov. Wanting to be portrayed as a successful and legitimate businessman Petrov is charming and personable but as Georgie works to expose him she realises too late the dangerous position she has put herself and those around her in.
Throughout the story James Finn struggles to look after Georgie and she gives him a hard time but there is an attraction growing between them which I couldn’t help hoping would develop but I’ll stop there not wanting to give anything away. The ending was perfect. This story was satisfactorily concluded, but plenty of scope was left for further stories to follow.
I will definitely be reading more by this talented and entertaining author and I highly recommend Business As Usual to all readers who like strong characters and fast paced action thrillers.
Georgie starts out typical of female characters of the genre. She is self-absorbed and impatient. She has an almost unnaturally short temper. Georgie figuratively stomps her feet and is irrationally hostile with James but once we settle into the story, the spark between them turns into something more interesting and believable. Both are carrying world-trip kind of baggage and Georgia soon shows us within the story-line that she knows which of James buttons to push. In one scene the pair is interrogating the client with extreme good cop/bad cop which is hilariously well-connected. Don't expect Lindley to show her hand in "Business as Usual." Lindley brilliantly builds excitement around the Georgie character to carry the reader further into the series.
"Business as Usual" is a light and fun read. There's blood, gore and violence but Georgie and company are busy people and as the reader is carried through Georgie's life the harsher elements seem less so. I will definitely be picking up the next novel in the Georgie Connelly series and recommend this novel for any of my readers that enjoy mysteries usually thought of as "cozy." Georgie is tenacious and strong with a fabulous support system and is simply good fun to read.
Georgina Connelly is a transplanted Londoner who landed smack in middle of the film industry of Los Angeles. She a documentarian who deals in tough subjects which tends to get her in trouble and the plot of this story is no exception. It is a fun, multi-faceted story with plenty of action, but it is Georgie who makes it come alive.
"High Maintenance" is a phrase tailor-made for Georgie, along with quirky, sexy, smart and ballsy. She tends to swing from one side of the emotional spectrum to the other in moments, making life a roller coaster ride for those around her, but she also makes life exciting for the same folks. She's got a big heart, buried and kept secret from the rest of the world beneath her tough shell. You cannot help but love her, just like the people she works with. The other characters are also well-drawn and likeable except Maxim, a fantastic villain.
I really enjoyed this novel and am excited to go buy and read the next one. Georgie is going to be a fun gal to hang out with over the course of the three other novels in the series that are already written!
